Joe Beditz, Ph.D.

President & CEO

Joseph F. Beditz has been the President and Chief Executive Officer of the National Golf Foundation (NGF) since 1989. He joined the NGF in 1984 as Director of Research and is widely recognized as a leading expert on the game and business of golf in the United States.

Dr. Beditz holds a Ph.D. in Research Methods and Statistics from Florida State University where he also earned his Masters Degree. He completed his undergraduate work at the University of North Dakota.

NATIONAL GOLF FOUNDATION EXPERIENCE

Strategic Planning
Dr. Beditz has extensive experience in strategic planning. Working with the consulting firm of McKinsey and Company he authored in 1988 the golf industry's first strategic plan entitled: A Strategic Plan for the Growth of Golf. In 1999 he once again teamed with McKinsey to update the industry plan. That effort resulted in the publication of: A Strategic Perspective on the Future of Golf which led to the creation of GOLF 20/20, the industry-wide initiative to grow the game and business of golf. Subsequently, he authored additional research studies projecting the growth of golfers and rounds, as well as public and private golf.

Golf Facility Research
In 1987 Dr. Beditz formed NGF Consulting, Inc. in order to provide comprehensive golf facility research and operations consulting services to public and private sector clients. Since its establishment, NGF Consulting has become one of the golf industry's leading providers of research and consulting services to facility operators and developers across the nation. As Chief Executive Dr. Beditz has overseen the development of NGF's array of customer loyalty and market analysis tools.

Industry Research
As the NGF's lead researcher for over 20 years, Dr. Beditz has been instrumental in developing the organization's research assets and capabilities. He has conducted consumer and market studies on virtually every business segment of the golf industry and serves as a marketing and strategic planning consultant to the CEOs of many of the industry's leading companies. As Chief Executive he continues to lead the NGF's efforts to fulfill NGF's mission of "Keeping golf businesses ahead of the game."

 

Greg Nathan

Senior Vice President, Membership

Greg Nathan is responsible for directing  all activities for NGF's member organization.  Greg oversees the development, publication and distribution of the member research content, helping to ensure that NGF members continue to be the knowledge leaders in the industry.  Greg and the Member Resources team are on call to provide responsive service to nearly 4,000 member courses, businesses, retailers, media and associations.  Nathan oversees NGF.org , the NGF Dashboard e-Magazine, Golfbizwiki.com, the Golf Business Symposium and the other communication platforms that carry NGF's independent and objective voice to those that earn their living in the golf business.   

Prior to his appointment overseeing the trade association, Greg spent three years managing NGF's Consulting division, including  its Proprietary Research, Database, Voice-of-Customer and Facility Consulting units.  As a result of that experience, Nathan can apply the full arsenal of NGF capabilities on behalf of members and clients.

Greg joined the NGF in 2007 after seven years with GOLF Magazine in New York City where he was Director of Client Marketing.  For the Sports Illustrated Golf Group (which includes GOLF Magazine, GOLF.com and Sports Illustrated's Golf Plus edition), Greg created and executed integrated marketing programs, promotions, events and branded content that helped advertisers activate readers.  Previous to his career in the golf industry, Greg worked in the advertising business in NY for a decade, developing brand strategy and producing advertising communications for brands such as Chase, MasterCard, UPS, Bear Stearns, Transamerica, RCA Electronics, Nikon and MovieFone. Before moving to Florida to join the NGF, Greg spent most of his life in the Northeast, living in Westchester County, NY.  Greg graduated from Lehigh University with a Bachelor of Science in Economics.  Nathan is a dedicated student of golf course architecture and a passionate supporter of Arsenal Football Club.  He lives in Palm Beach Gardens with his wife and two children.
