JoSEPH (jOE) f. Beditz, Ph.D.

President & cHIEF eXECUTIVE oFFICER

With nearly three decades at the National Golf Foundation, Joe Beditz is widely recognized among the world's leading independent and objective experts on the golf business. Joe joined NGF in 1984 as Director of Research and has since studied virtually every segment of the industry. He uses NGF's statistical databases and research to provide a unique perspective on where the golf business has been, and where it's going. Joe has long been one of the most respected voices on golf's vital signs. In the late 90's, Joe authored golf's first strategic plan, which eventually led to the creation of GOLF 20/20, the industry-wide initiative dedicated to addressing golf's most significant issues. Joe is a valued consultant to many of the industry's most prominent CEOs, many of whom have served on the board of the NGF.

Under Joe's leadership as President & CEO since 1989, the NGF has evolved and solidified its position as the industry's premier research, database and consulting resource. Joe continues to build new resources for golf-related businesses, such as the American Golf Census, a detailed consumer database of North American golfers, as well as the development of the first definitive database of every golf course in the world.

Joe sits on the Board of Directors for the NGF, Nicklaus Children's Healthcare Charities (sponsors of The Honda Classic), and the National Club Association Foundation. He is a member of the World Golf Hall of Fame Selection Committee, the USGA Bob Jones Award Committee, the GOLF 20/20 Executive Committee and the Royal & Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews.

Joe holds a Ph.D. in Research Methods and Statistics from Florida State University where he also earned his Masters Degree. He completed his undergraduate work at University of North Dakota. Joe would tell you that he still loves playing golf, in spite of his ability, not because of it.
