In 2020, almost 61 million more were played in the U.S. than in 2019, the biggest year-over-year increase since 1997. This 14% jump came despite the loss of 20 million spring rounds due to coronavirus-related shutdowns in March and April, when more than half of the 16,000+ courses in the country were temporarily closed due to the coronavirus.
