On- and Off-Course Golfers by Geography
The number of off-course golfers (24.8 million) continues to draw ever closer to the number of traditional, on-course golfers (25.1 million) in the U.S. And by and large, the proportion of participants for on- and off-course is similar by geography. As indicated here, there is a bit of a skew toward the South and West, representing a slightly greater percentage of off-course participants than on-course. Alternatively, the Midwest (including the Dakotas, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri and Nebraska) accounts for a directionally lower percentage of off-course participants than on-course.
