Academy Sports + Outdoors is one of the nation’s largest sporting goods and outdoor stores. Over the last several decades, the Katy, Texas-based retailer has grown substantially from its small beginnings. Sales reached $1 billion in 2003, $2 billion in 2007, $3 billion in 2012, $4 billion in 2014. And more recently, in fiscal 2021, sales reached almost $6.8 billion.

Academy traces its roots to 1938, when Max Gochman founded the family business as a tire shop in San Antonio. It turned into a military surplus store, then began offering sports and outdoors equipment as it evolved into the Academy Sports + Outdoors customers throughout Southern and Midwest parts of the U.S. know today. The company has over 22,000 team members from Texas to Florida and as far north as Indiana and Illinois.
Academy Sports + Outdoors carries all major brands of golf equipment, apparel and accessories along with a wide range of golf technology and training aids.
