April rounds were up almost 3% compared to a year ago, pushing the year-to-date totals through the first four months level with where play was at the same time in 2024.
The peak months of the 2025 golf season are still ahead, but entering May the momentum meant that U.S. rounds – despite negative weather impacts in some areas — are on par with last year’s record-setting pace.
Plus or minus 3% typically reflects the weather-related variance on a monthly basis and April, on the cusp of the spring season, tends to have fairly significant year-to-year fluctuations.
The biggest movers during April on a state level included the Dakotas (+26%), Minnesota (+14%, Washington (+12%), Pennsylvania (+8%), and Illinois (+8%)
