Play on a national level was relatively stable for March 2023, a normalization for what's been one of the most inconsistent months for U.S. rounds in recent years.

There have been only two sustained periods of golf course supply contraction in the United States. They've ended in two very different ways.

Play gets off to a stronger start than in 2022

Several regions in the Frostbelt saw far less snow than January of 2022, yielding more playable days and a boost in play to kick off the year.

Rounds of golf played nationally in 2022 didn't measure up to the record-setting totals of 2021. Weather played a role in the downturn, especially in the shoulder months of this past year.

Colder temps across U.S. lead to decrease in play to close out year

One year after an unseasonably warm December yielded strong end-of-year play totals, national rounds to close out the final month of 2022 saw a fairly significant year-over-year drop.
