Acushnet Holdings Corp. is a company that manufactures high-performance golf products and is driven by its two major brand names – Titleist and FootJoy.
The company also counts Vokey Design, Scotty Cameron, Club Glove, Pinnacle, KJUS, Links & Kings, and PG Golf under its umbrella. Acushnet has been one of the most dominant names in the golf industry with a long history of success. Titleist golf balls have been the #1 ball in professional golf and FootJoy has been the leading golf shoe on the PGA TOUR for over six decades and golf glove for three decades.
Founded in the Massachusetts town of the same name in the early 1900s, Acushnet entered the golf ball business in 1932 and introduced the first Titleist golf ball in 1935.
In 2017, the company went public under the ticker symbol “GOLF” and has seen continued, steady growth in that time. As a testament to the company’s efforts in the golf ball section of the market, Acushnet owns and operates three state-of-the-art golf ball manufacturing facilities that produce over 1 million golf balls per day. The Titleist Pro V1 and Pro V1x have become golf’s most popular and are utilized by approximately 75% of all touring professionals around the world.
As the largest company in the Acushnet portfolio, Titleist operates on the mission to develop products that deliver best-in-class performance and quality for dedicated golfers extends to its popular line of golf clubs, which are also widely used by tour professionals, club professionals and competitive amateurs around the world. Titleist remains focused on maximizing the performance experience for dedicated golfers through its skilled network of fitters who work with golfers to optimize club performance and fine-tune set composition.
Scotty Cameron and Vokey Design are major brands in their own right, as is Club Glove, a NGF Golf 100 golf travel products company that was acquired by Acushnet in February 2023.
Cameron models are among the most-played on the PGA Tour and immensely popular with collectors. Bob Vokey is the craftsman behind Vokey Design, which has had more wedges being used on the PGA TOUR than any other company every year since 2004.
As part of its continued growth Acushnet acquired FootJoy in 1985, Links & Kings and PG Golf in 2018, KJUS in 2019.
In the most recent acquisition, Acushnet purchased all Club Glove trademarks, domains and products from West Coast Trends, which continues to operate the brand. Club Glove has long been recognized for having some of the industry’s most innovative and reliable products in the golf travel category, with its gear being the preferred choice by the majority of professional golfers.
KEY TAKEAWAYS
Acushnet is best known as the parent company of Titleist, which is No. 1 in market share in the ball category and is perhaps the most recognizable consumer golf brand in the world.
When it comes to equipment, Titleist has demonstrated a steadfast focus on the one million to two million dedicated golfers at the upper end of the golf engagement pyramid, recognizing that those avid and skill-biased golfers prioritize performance and commit the time, effort and money to improve their game. Titleist has said that dedicated golfers are generally the most consistent and voluminous purchasers of golf products, the most discerning, and the most likely to invest in premium performance equipment and golf wear.
Acushnet’s commitment to supplying every aspect of the golf equipment industry though its investments in the Titleist, FootJoy, Club Glove Vokey, Scotty Cameron, Pinnacle, Links & Kings, Kjus and PG Golf brand names have positioned the company to achieve continued growth in the expanding golf environment.
