The business was formed by two brothers, Tom and Rick Robshaw, in the early 1990s when Tom grew tired of keeping track of inventory with pencil, paper, and a cigar box, and bought a 386 MHz computer in an effort to automate the business in the pro shop. The brothers soon realized training non-technical golf staff to use off-the-shelf accounting software was complex and self-defeating.
Tom and Rick began to design their own software and in 1992 introduced what eventually became Club Prophet Systems, the first Windows-based point-of-sale system specifically designed for pro shop operations. In 1993, they founded Club Prophet Systems Computer Software Company, which today is headquartered in Oakmont, Pa., just across the Allegheny River from historic Oakmont Country Club — which just so happens to be one of its successful partners.
Now among the leading technologies in the golf industry for two decades and running, Club Prophet Systems operates in over 1,700 golf facilities of all types and sizes in 16 countries and is available in nine languages. It provides flexible POS systems as well as expanding to include solutions for food & beverage software, integration to external accounting programs, internet tee time options, integrated web store, lesson book, event management software, a data collection kiosk, USGA handicap system, member management, mobile solutions, marketing and more.
