KemperSports is one of the largest and most prolific golf management companies in the United States, operating almost 100 facilities with a mix of private and public courses.
The company manages more top 100 U.S. public and resort courses (as rated by GOLF Magazine, Golf Digest and Golfweek) than anyone else in the game, including a number of nationally ranked destinations such as Bandon Dunes (Oregon), Streamsong (Florida), and Sand Valley (Wisconsin).
In early 2023, a subsidiary of Kemper Sports Management acquired Streamsong and 7,000 acres of land on which it sits for $160 million, moving beyond the traditional operational model.
The company also manages popular public tournament venues like Chambers Bay, a municipal course outside Seattle that hosted the 2015 U.S. Open as well as the U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship in 2022.
“Golf is becoming a little broader,” KemperSports CEO Steve Skinner said at the 2022 re-opening of a daily fee public course in rural Pennsylvania of which the company assumed operations. “You don’t have to just be an avid golfer to enjoy the game. We’re seeing it can be just as much about families and communities. That’s great for golf because we can broaden the base.”
Sand Valley Golf Resort in Wisconsin is one of several nationally-ranked golf destinations operated by KemperSports.
KemperSports was originally founded in 1978 by James Kemper Jr. and Steven H. Lesnik with the intent to create custom, innovative solutions that deliver real results.
Today, it is a leading sports, entertainment and hospitality company that delivers operational excellence in property and experience management, growing to more than 6,000 employees across 27 states.
