In 1968, the company became the licensee to combine active ingredients 2,4-D, MCPP, and Dicamba. It marketed exclusive rights to a patented formula called Fairway Herbicide, selling the first gallon ever to Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Fairway would evolve into one of today’s most popular products for fighting weeds: Trimec®.
Building off the initial success of Trimec, PBI-Gordon was able to set in motion a process of development that led to a number of industry-leading solutions for the turf grass industry. Notable innovations include SpeedZone®, Vexis®, and Surge® herbicides, and Pedigree, Kabuto®, and Tekken® fungicides.
Today, PBI-Gordon continues to thrive as a 100 percent employee-owned company, strengthening its leadership position in the industry by providing focused, reliable solutions and expertise to help professionals keep their turf healthy and strong.
