National rounds-played totals officially finished in record-setting territory for the fourth time in five years after December 2025 play levels were virtually unchanged compared to a year ago.
Following the 2020 pandemic, there have been a record number of rounds of golf at U.S. golf facilities in 2021, 2023, 2024 and 2025. With December’s data in (+0.2% year-over-year), 2025 finished 1.2% ahead of last year’s record total.
December is typically one of the lowest-volume months for play given seasonality constraints in many golf-rich regions of the country. While winter weather led to a 58% YOY December drop collectively in states like New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania, warmer-weather states such as Nevada (+8%), Georgia (+13%), Texas (+13%) and Hawaii (+27%) saw noteworthy gains.
