Rounds of golf in July, the highest-volume month for play of the year, were up 2.6% on a national level. Through seven months, 2025 is almost on the same pace as last year’s record-setting U.S. rounds trajectory.
The most significant gains during the month of July were on the private side, with play up more than 6%. At public facilities, which account for about four of every five rounds played overall, July rounds were up nearly 2% year-over-year.
The Pacific and Mountain regions saw the most noteworthy play gains in July — both beyond the typical +/- 3% weather-related fluctuation. Golf-rich states such as Arizona (+15%), California (+8%), Nevada (+26%) and Oregon (+7%) all enjoyed YOY July jumps in play.
Approximately 12% of annual U.S. rounds are played in July, the most of any month (and just ahead of June).
With several more high-volume play months to account for, 2025 is 0.1% ahead of the pace set in 2024, when there were a record number of rounds played at U.S. golf courses.
